Finally Got Started

So I made my first necklace yesterday.  Nothing fancy, nothing unique, but it's a start.

I've started a blog for this hobby and the picture of the necklace is there, so if you are interested, here is the link: http://cevjewels.blogspot.com/

More Geekdom

So, in keeping with my current Ghostbusters osbession, I ordered these puppies from http://www.thinkgeek.com/ :

They're Ghostbusters Minimates, and this is Series 1, with Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Dana Barrett, and Louis Tully/Key Master Terror Dog.

Peter Venkman comes with a proton pack with a removable ion stream and a walkie talkie.  The head, hair, torso, arms and leg assembly come apart quite like a LEGO minifig, and the shirt also comes off, revealing a black t-shirt underneath.  The thrower also attaches to the proton pack, and the walkie-talkie to the belt.

Egon Spengler is made up pretty much the same way as Peter, except a different head and hair style, obviously, and instead of a walkie-talkie, he has a PKE meter.

Here's Dana Barret and the Key Master terror dog.  Dana's head, hair, torso, skirt, and legs also separate, but for dignity's sake, I won't be doing that.  I can, however, show you what happens when you remove from the terror dog his head, arms, torso, legs and leg cover.....

...a very disheveled Louis Tully!  The set came with some extra hair, arms and feet to make the Keymaster himself.  It is a little difficult to remove and replace the leg cover, though, so the transformation won't happen too often.

I'd say I'm happy with my purchase.  I've also pre-ordered Set 2 and 3, and a mini-set with Louis Tully in a Ghostbuster uniform and Slimer.  Set 2 has Gozer and Stay-Puft along with Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, similar to the others above, and Set 3 has GB II Janine Melnitz, Walter Peck, and a marshmallow-covered Egon and Winston.  Can`t wait!

We found our dress!

Yesterday we did a little bridesmaid dress shopping in Toronto, and the Wedding Gods smiled down upon us, because we found our dress in the first store we went into.

This is just the sample they had on the rack, as the bride's colour is a deep purple.  Annnnnd it has pockets!  The night before we were researching which stores to visit on the net, and we saw a few dresses with pockets, and we were surprised they even did that on an evening gown.  Why not wear a fanny pack too?  But when we tried it on, you really couldn't tell the pockets were there, and in the end, I'm sure they'll be useful, if not for carrying tissues, then for carrying some flip-flops when our feet eventually get sore.

Here is the maid of honour modelling the dress:

New "This is Relevant to My Interests" Blog Alert!

I came upon this website where people submit pictures and make them corny by adding rainbows and unicorns. After going through a few pages, this is my favourite so far. Turd Ferguson never looked so good:

Just want to send some warm Thanksgiving wishes to the Canadians happening upon my blargh (It's on Monday, but I like to be early).

Have a great one!  Any Monday off gets me a half-day Friday off from work, so it's always a great one for me!
